Aging Clocks Applied to Human Trial Data Support AI-Designed Drug Lowering Age

Six proteomics-based aging clocks (age assessments from large-scale analyses of proteins) agreed that patients treated with the AI-designed drug rentosertib appeared younger.

The AI-designed drug rentosertib was shown to lower biological age across six aging clocks in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Supplementing chronically stressed mice with L-serine, an amino acid, counters signs of anxiety and diabetes while diverting age-promoting senescent cells within the brain’s fear center.

A new study describes a large cross-species testing system—using species from yeast to mice—to identify promising lifespan-extending drug candidates more efficiently.

A new platform tests aging intervention drugs in five animal model species—yeast, worms, flies, fish, and mice.

Model: 20-month-old female C57BL/J mice 
Dosage: 10 nmol/kg/day of semaglutide

Semaglutide extends mouse lifespan and targets signs of aging, such as diminished NAD+, while mimicking the anti-aging effects of caloric restriction (consuming fewer calories).

Model: 6-week-old ICR mice
Dosage: 250 mg/kg per day or 500 mg/kg per day of glucosamine and 100 mg/kg per day or 200 mg/kg per day of aspirin for either eight (acute alcohol exposure model) or 40 days (chronic alcohol exposure model)

New Study Supports Repurposing Glucosamine Against Liver Aging

A sugar-like compound found in cartilage called glucosamine reduces dysfunctional cells (senescent cells) in the liver and attenuates liver damage from alcohol consumption in mice.

Scientists find that meloxicam preserves muscle mass and strength in aged mice while sustaining mitochondrial function and activating multiple molecules associated with longevity.

Model: Male C57BL/6J (B6) mice (15 months old at the start of treatment)
Dosage: Approximately 5 mg/kg/day of S-1-propenyl-L-cysteine (S1PC) was administered orally for 8 months, from 15 to 23 months of age. S1PC was given in chow containing 0.0025% S1PC, with a second experiment using drinking water to confirm the findings.

Researchers found that a compound found in garlic supports healthier muscle aging by boosting cellular defenses linked to longevity and maintaining physical performance.

Model: SAMP8 mice (5 months old) and C57BL/6 mice (16 months old)
Dosage: 1.5 mg/kg of urolithin A was administered by intraperitoneal injection three times per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) for 8 weeks.

Study shows that urolithin A preserves memory and cognitive function during aging when treatment begins before age-related decline, but does not reverse cognitive impairment once it is established.
