Blocking NAD+ Breakdown Improves Cognitive and Physical Performance

Buck Institute scientists find that blocking the CD38 enzyme, which elevates NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), counteracts age-related cognitive and physical decline in mice.

Model: Male COX7RP transgenic mice with systemic overexpression of COX7RP, aged under standard laboratory conditions and compared with age-matched wild-type controls.
Dosage: Not applicable. COX7RP activity was increased via genetic overexpression rather than drug administration.

Boosting mitochondrial efficiency by increasing COX7RP activity extended lifespan in mice while improving energy production and reducing inflammation.
