Dose: 0.1 mg/kg/day of folic acid administered orally for 12 months

Supplementation with vitamin B9, also known as folic acid or folate, prevents cellular senescence and slows vascular aging in naturally aged mice.  

Cardiovascular

Model: 22-month-old male C57BL/6NIH mice 
Dosage: 400 mg/kg of NR for eight weeks, administered in food

Treating aged mice with the NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) precursor NR (nicotinamide riboside) improves memory and reduces pro-inflammatory immune cells.

Brain &amp; Neurons

Participants: Adults over the age of 60
Dosage: 3,750 mg of niacin twice daily (after gradual dose increase), 150 mg of dihydroberberine twice daily, 50 mg of taxifolin (with 500 mg of vitamin C and 15 mg of zinc) twice daily, 50 mg of tocotrienols twice daily

A combination of supplements, including the NAD+ precursor nicotinic acid, improves cholesterol, allowing some participants to cease taking statins.

Nicotinic Acid

Participants: Healthy middle-aged to older adults (average age: ~53 years)
Dosage: 1,000 mg/day of urolithin A for 28 days

Supplementing healthy adults with urolithin A —a compound produced by our gut bacteria— counters signs of age-related immune system decline.
