Model: Naturally aged 24-month-old C57BL/6 mice 
Dose: 0.1 mg/kg/day of folic acid administered orally for 12 months

Supplementation with vitamin B9, also known as folic acid or folate, prevents cellular senescence and slows vascular aging in naturally aged mice.

Participants: Adults over the age of 60
Dosage: 3,750 mg of niacin twice daily (after gradual dose increase), 150 mg of dihydroberberine twice daily, 50 mg of taxifolin (with 500 mg of vitamin C and 15 mg of zinc) twice daily, 50 mg of tocotrienols twice daily

A combination of supplements, including the NAD+ precursor nicotinic acid, improves cholesterol, allowing some participants to cease taking statins.

Nicotinic Acid

Model: Primary hippocampal neurons from non-transgenic C57BL/6 (nTg) and triple-transgenic 3xTg-AD mice; age groups: young (2–6 mo), middle (8–11 mo), and old (17–28 mo).
Dosage: Nicotinamide 2 mM + EGCG 2 µM applied to cultured neurons for 16 h (in vitro).

Study shows that brief nicotinamide + EGCG treatment restores neuronal energy in 16–24 hours, restores autophagy, reduces amyloid-beta buildup, and boosts neuron survival by ~22% in aging/Alzheimer’s lab models.
