Mice treated with nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) following oxygen deprivation (ischemia) to their brains due to stroke had decreased brain injury and neurological deficits due to increased sirtuin activity.

Dose (oral): 100 mg/kg honokiol, or 150 mg/kg metformin for 8 weeks
