Neonatal Ventilation

Minimizing stress on patients, parents and caregivers

Newborns are special, but perhaps nowhere are they more special than in the hospital. Because of the complex needs of these tiny patients, the Newborn Intensive Care Unit continues to be one of the most costly segments of healthcare on a per-patient basis.

For neonates, the immature lungs are perhaps the most fragile. This requires the gentlest ventilation whereby each breath must be monitored for the slightest change. Which is why, at Dräger, our focus has always been on providing highly sensitive ventilation that keeps pace with a baby’s changing needs, from the very first breath onwards.

The ultimate aim is to achieve a harmonious balance between patient and ventilator – where the ventilator not only adapts to the patient’s needs but also protects the baby as much as possible from serious side effects such as volutrauma or atelectasis.
